Discussion #3.

This is an individual assignment and should be emailed to me via webct.

First, define the following: Cognition, Perception, Memory, Thinking, Language, and Problem solving. Use your own words.

Second, in one sentence each, describe the following models of memory (your book will be very helpful):

1. Levels of Processing
2. Transfer Appropriate Processing
3. Parallel Distributed Processing
4. Information-Processing

Then, for each of these models, provide a personal example that demonstrates how the model has helped you in your life. This is has the potential of being the hardest part of the assignment.

Third, read this NY Times article titled Memory Training Shown to Turn Up Brainpower and in 5 sentences or less, identify the main point and its consequence from the article, and then suggest or hypothesize why "intelligence has always been considered principally an immutable inherited trait." Five points for main point/consequence, 3 points for hypothesis, 2 points for spelling/grammar/clarity.

Fourth, identify something related to cognitive psychology that you might like to understand better or more deeply.
