Welcome to World Music 110
This survey course serves as an introduction to the traditional music of the world's peoples. Focus is on the purposes and roles of music within each culture, musical characteristics, and cross-cultural influences between each region studied. The course will include a survey of the following regions: The Middle East, India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Africa, Australia, Polynesia, and Latin America . I Hope you are looking forward to an exciting quarter discovering a little about the world's music. This is a big topic and we'll be covering a lot of territory!
