Have you been singing in church choir for years, but want to contribute more? Do you love to sing in the shower, but wonder how you would do on the stage? Did you sing in college or high school, enjoyed it, and wonder if you've "still got it?" Are you an actor or singer who has performed often, but feel your voice could be better? Have you started to loose your voice or get hoarse while singing, but the throat doctor says everything looks fine? Whether you are a professional singer or an amateur, a veteran of the stage or a novice, if you love to sing, but think you could do it better, then individual voice lessons could be just for you. I have been teaching privately for 10 years including a year in association with Hunter College in New York City, and I have been an Individual Music Instructor with the North Seattle Community College since 2004. I am a doctoral candidate in voice at the UW (2003) on academic leave researching and writing my dissertation - a textbook on Russian lyric diction for singers. I have my Masters in voice from the New England Conservatory of Music and my Bachelors in voice from Florida State University. Also, I have trained with some of the finest teachers of voice and acting. I have over 20 years of professional singing/stage experience, including two summers with the Santa Fe Opera and 5 years singing opera in New York City at the regional level. Presently, I am a regular member of the Seattle Opera Chorus, and sing principal roles with Tacoma Opera, Bellevue Opera, and the Concert Opera of Seattle.
