Searching Databases

Good databases for your research are:
- Brittanica - articles on countries and authors, links to websites
- Contemporary Authors - brief biographical information on your author
- CultureGrams - current information about cultures & customs from around the world, images
- eLibrary Academic - articles on countries and authors, images
Finding Books
Reference books are often a good way to find information on your topic. For example:
- Africana: The Encyclopedia of the African and African American Experience [Ref DT14.A47435 1991] - South Africa
- Encyclopedia of Africa South of the Sahara [Ref DT351.E53 1997] - Nadine Gordimer
- Encyclopedia of Modern Asia [Ref DS 4.E53 2002] - Cultural Revolution in China
- Encyclopedia of the Modern Middle East & North Africa [Ref DS43.E53 2004] - background information on Iran
- World Authors 1980-1985 [Ref PN451.W67 1980/85] - Feng Jicai
Circulating books are on the second floor of the library. To find out if we have information on your author, search the catalog by keyword (chinua achebe) or subject (achebe, chinua).
To find information about your author's country search the catalog by subject. For instance::

Write down the call number of the book you find. Before you go to look for it, make sure it is available at North! Ask us if you need help finding your book on the shelf. We can also help you request a book from another library.
