Using the Library

Finding Movies in the NSCC Library

Movies can be checked out for two days. Turn on closed captioning to help you learn the English you are hearing. Or select a story you might be familiar with ("My Neighbor Totoro") so that you already know what is going on.

1. Find the link to the Video and DVD catalog:

2. Click on "Search by Subject"

3. Select the link to a subject that interesets you. If you want to look at the list of popular movies, click on "Movies and Plays."

4. When you find a title you are interested in, write down or remember the call number. This will begin with either VHS or DVD.

NOTE: If you already know the title of the movie, you can look it up in the catalog:

5. Ask at the Checkout Desk for the DVD by call number.

Finding Audiobooks in the NSCC Library

The ESL collection has audiobooks to check out. Audiobooks are marked with a bright pink label.

The best way to find audiobooks is to browse (look through) the collection. Audiobooks have been temporarily placed on a cart so that they are easier for you to find.

Most of the recordings are older, so they are on cassette. If you don't have a cassette player, you may check one out at the Check Out Desk. Just ask!

Speaking of cassettes...
