This Buddhist nun tends an altar in the Bayon Temple complex for
tourists. Various nuns have set up altars here. They are typically
widows who are providing pray services to visitors besides gaining a
few coins that support them or their temple nearby. In Buddhism, women
can become nuns at any age and widows who have raised their families
are likely candidates due to lack of family or social support and
accompanying poverty.
