Ta Prohm
"Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor" ©2001 photo

This Buddhist temple was constructed by
Jayavarman VII in 1186, almost
twenty years before Bayon. It was dedicated the ruler's mother as an
incarnation of "Transcendent Buddhist Wisdom." No restoration is
planned for this site because removing the huge trees would do more
damage that good for the structure. Besides that it looks so great! We
really felt that we had just discovered these stones. I was warned here
not to get too close to the roots of a particular tree because that's
where a cobra lives.
