Rocamadour is one of seven great pilgrimage sites in the 10th - 12th century. This particular region of France is noted for its dramatically situated villages and the prehistoric cave art that has been discovered nearby. It is well documented to have been inhabited by artistically inclined people to 20,000 bce. In the area are the well known cave art sites of Perch Merle, Font du Game and Lascaux.
