St. Paul de Vence is a small but very picturesque hill town a few mile west of Nice. It became an artist colony in the 1930's and is now a favorite spot on many tourist agendas.

Just across the road from St. Paul is one of the better and certainly one of the most beautifully situated modern art museums in the world, The Foundation Maeght. Here you will find rotating exhibits of contemporary artists of international and historical renown. They have a particularly interesting exhibit of Joan Miro sculpture on permanent display.
