Olympia is the originating point of the present Olympic Games. Little is left of the original competition arenas other than a few grass lined fields. The romoteness of the location leaves it as a rather the adjoining temples seem to have been the victims a major earthquake with portions of the temple columns topples in a controlled order.
The museum in Olympia still holds a number of major statues from facades of some of the temples. Although small it has some splendid pieces.
