Silhouette Island is beautiful and somewhat isolated island about an hour
boat ride from Mahé. Although there are many coconut palms on the
island, they are not native to the island and now are trying to be controlled
in order to re-establish native plants. Water on all the islands is a problem
and comes primarily from catch-water cisterns. Resorts here are very expensive
and the few tourists are willing to pay dearly for the remoteness and the
snorkeling off the coast where they may sees numerous varieties of fish and
sea turtles.
