Fred Sevier is today mostly known for his soapstone carvings of whales, polar bears
 and hand-made bows based on his Alaskan Eskimo heritage.  His Eskimo name is "Tukaluk" with means "Someone who doesn't give up easily".  He studied with native carvers in Pt. Barrow and Nome, Alaska before coming to NSCC.  He still lives in the area.  

This work was purchased by the students of North Seattle Community College
 through the Associated Student Body funds.
The painting is presently on the wall of Tom Griffith's office, the Dean of Science and Technology.
