Realism is something we practice when we aren't feeling very well. When we don't feel up to the extra effort. ~Robert Edmund Jones

I am a Scenic Artist living and working in the greater Seattle Area. Prior to coming home to Seattle in 1999 where I grew up, I painted scenery for such regional theaters as the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the Alliance Theater in Atlanta Georgia, and the Human Race Theater in Dayton Ohio. In addition, I have an extensive background in painting commercial scenery and have managed the work of large scale projects for CBS, Kenny Rodgers, Wynonna Judd, Vince Gill, Opryland Nashville, and the Cartoon Network amongst others.

I returned to Seattle to take the Master Scenic Artist position at the Intiman Theater. I spent two seasons managing the paint shop there before taking the job as Charge Scenic Artist for the University of Washington School of Drama. I love what I do at the U.W. Working with graduate and undergraduate students I get to pass down what I have learned over the course of my career.

I got into painting scenery because I love the scale of what it is I get to do. The physical size of what we paint as scenic artists is not the only thing that enthralls me about the work. I love the scale of working with many unique artists with varied skill sets and applying them in the best way possible to the work.
