The IT
Healthcare Program is a step in a three part career pathway in
healthcare and technology. The first step is a 15 credit
IT
for Healthcare Certificate. This certificate is intended for
currently employed health care professionals who wish to add IT
skills to their professional qualifications. It is also designed for
those who are beginning their health care career and need basic IT
skills. The IT for
Healthcare One Year Certificate then builds on the IT curriculum
by adding medical fundamentals and project management as well as
informatics. This One Year Certificate of Achievement targets the
displaced worker looking for a new skill, and it targets the new
student who is looking to work in the healthcare field using IT
skills. The culmination is the
AAS-T
Degree in IT for Healthcare giving a well rounded curriculum
that will enable graduates to work in the medical field or
information technology in hospitals, home health or ambulatory
care facilities in entry level positions. It
is critical in the transition to the digital healthcare field of the
future that a work force capable of using health communications and
information technology is in place. The IT
for Healthcare curriculum is designed to meet this emerging demand
and aims to equip students and workers with the skills needed to
enter and advance in healthcare careers.
