E-Mail
Each student must have computer access and
an e-mail account. Class homework can be sent
via email but can also be submitted using the
Angel
courseware system, as explained in a later orientation link.
Please note: while free
web-based email systems like "Hotmail"
or "Yahoo Mail" can be convenient, they
are generally not as effective as accounts issued
by paid internet providers. Subsequently,
students are generally more at risk for incoming
and outgoing email problems. Students are
encouraged to save all their homework, as well as keep copies of
email messages in their "sent
mail" folders in the event homework does not transmit
properly by the due date. If a student does not have a "sent
mail" folder, he/she should send a copy of each homework
submission to him- or herself.
When sending homework,
questions or other communication via email during the quarter,
please describe your message in the subject heading e.g. "Week 1
Search & Report" or "Question."
Students are encouraged to complete
homework using MS Word if they have the software, and attaching
the homework to the email or
Angel
homework page. NSCC computer labs are equipped with MS Word.
Although creating attachments is not required, students will most certainly find
opportunity to use this skill in the "real world." When
attaching MS Word documents, please use the older (1997-2003)
Word version so named documents have the ".doc" rather than the
".docx" file extension on them.
Students accessing school computers will
need a NetID account to do so. Information on setting up a new
NetID account can be found online here:
http://www.northseattle.edu/kiosk/netid/For this activity, students
will send an e-mail message to the instructor.
