Extra Credit Opportunities

-EXAMS: You may earn back some points on each of the exams. The amount you can earn back will vary for each exam (usually 2 or 4 points). To do so, you must make corrections to missed questions. You can correct multiple choice, short essay, or some combination. To correct multiple choice, write a few sentences about the subject in your own words. Do NOT write the question and the correct choice as they appear on the exam. Do NOT tell me why you chose the incorrect answer. Just tell me something correct about it. You will earn back 1 point per multiple choice question. To correct short essay, simply answer the question correctly. You will earn back half credit for corrected short essays (ex. if you missed 4 points, you will earn back 2 by correcting it). Due on the next exam.

-QUIZZES: For 2 percentage points on any three quizzes: choose an ailment related to one of the systems we're discussing. Write 1/2 to 1 full (front) page about the ailment, including information such as causes, diagnosis, treatment, current research, etc. Write-ups must contain completely original work (ie, your own words) for credit. You must include a description of the ailment, at least 2 other types of information (diagnosis, probable causes, current research, etc), and you must reference one other reputable source of information besides your textbook. Reputable sources include your Applications Manual, other textbooks, medical texts, and websites that are associated with major research universities. I have added a link to the Merck Manual, which you may use. Be sure to list your sources to receive full credit! Due on the quiz dates.
