Marking nest trees:
If you find a nest in a tree that has not been marked, tie flagging tape around the tree and mark it with your initials (or initials chosen for your group... you guys decide) and the nest # in order of discovery. For example, the second nest I find I would mark "ts2".
Make a note in your data sheet that you marked the nest, and where it was located (Parcel # and approximate location in the parcel).
Send the info to us via our bulk email account.
If you find a nest in a tree that has been marked by one of your fellows, simply make a note of it in your data sheet, to confirm that you have seen the same nest.
Certainly, if you see any crows in or around ANY nest, make a note of that in your data sheet and send that information out to us. Be sure to note if you saw the activity IN the nest or NEAR the nest. In this case, even activity in a nearby tree is worth noting.
Also, if you see squirrel activity in a marked nest, make a note of that and let us know. Be sure to note if you saw the activity IN the nest or NEAR the nest (same tree), and how near.
